SANCRISGO

Mission, vision and principles

A personal explanation of why the project exists, how I want to build it, and what I want to contribute to the city.

Erchim PetrovSan Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas

What I found in San Cristóbal

I have lived in San Cristóbal for more than three years. I came here from Yakutia—Sakha—far from Mexico, and I did not expect the city to influence me so deeply.

San Cristóbal gave me people, relationships, opportunities, knowledge, new ways of seeing life, and a feeling of home far from home. I also met many people who make meaningful things because they want to share them, not simply because those things are the most profitable: musicians, teachers, artists, cooks, makers, organizers, and people building small independent projects.

Not everyone should have to become a marketer

A musician should be able to focus on music. A teacher should be able to teach. An artist should be able to create. A small project should be able to do useful work without first becoming an expert in promotion.

People should not need to master SEO, advertising, Instagram algorithms, websites, or AI tools just to become discoverable. The work matters before the marketing around it.

Why SanCrisGo exists

SanCrisGo exists to connect people who have something useful to share with people who are looking for it.

Events, Places, Guides, People, search, Google visibility, structured local information, and eventually AI are tools for that purpose. The real product is the connection: a student finding a teacher, a musician finding an audience, a visitor finding the right place, or two people discovering that they can help each other.

Connect people who have something useful to share with people who are looking for it.

You can start with Events, Places, Guides or Contribute local information.

Visibility is not for sale

Basic participation should remain open to legitimate local people, places, and projects, subject to evidence, rights, moderation, and publication rules. Paying must not be a requirement for basic discoverability.

  • Basic Place participation stays free.
  • Event submission stays free.
  • Factual corrections stay free.
  • Payment does not buy ordinary organic ranking, verification, trust, or editorial recommendation.

Editorial choice can still exist

Independence does not mean pretending that every item deserves exactly the same editorial attention. A useful local, cultural, educational, or community initiative may receive extra attention because it deserves help or is important to the city.

That is an editorial choice, not a product that can be purchased. Organic relevance, editorial selection, and clearly labelled paid promotion must remain separate.

Why San Cristóbal affected me

Small actions matter even when their effects are difficult to measure. A sentence, a class, an introduction, or a useful piece of information can open a path that would not otherwise exist.

SanCrisGo will not solve every global problem. I do not believe one website can fix injustice, politics, or all the difficulties a city faces. But people can still improve something near them, and this project is one small attempt to do that.

Reciprocity and my Sakha background

I am Sakha. My personal understanding of balance, influenced by Sakha culture and by Aiyy Tangara, includes gratitude and the feeling that what we receive should not simply be taken without thought of what we return.

This is my personal perspective. I do not speak for all Sakha people, and I am not trying to define Aiyy Tangara authoritatively or turn it into a marketing symbol. San Cristóbal has given me something meaningful, and building useful infrastructure is one way I can try to give something back.

People arriving from outside also affect the city

People who arrive from outside—including visitors, foreign residents, remote workers, and others with more financial or geographic flexibility—can affect housing demand, prices, commercial demand, business models, and the use of local space.

This is not collective guilt, and it does not mean that every outsider causes harm. It is a reason to ask a simple question when a place becomes important to us:

If a place gave you something important, what can you return?

What I hope to give back

In the future, that return could take many forms: education, free classes, cultural or environmental projects, help for useful initiatives, support for families or animals, connections, knowledge, time, or practical digital infrastructure.

Children and education are one personal example of why opportunity matters to me, not the single mission of SanCrisGo. The broader aim is to help worthwhile local ideas find people and resources. SanCrisGo is not currently a charity, and this page does not announce a charity system.

Contribute local information

Community is a future direction

First, SanCrisGo needs to be a useful information platform: a place where people can find current Events, Places, Guides, and other local knowledge. A stronger community may grow later from real use and real workflows.

This does not mean that a forum, support network, volunteer system, or community marketplace already exists. Future community work will need trust, moderation, safeguarding, clear ownership, and practical boundaries.

Dignity

Another person’s vulnerability should never become a tool for creating guilt, raising money, or making SanCrisGo look morally good. People receiving help are people, not marketing material.

Any future support should protect dignity, agency, consent, useful outcomes, and safeguarding. Children and people in difficult circumstances deserve stricter privacy and care, not more dramatic promotion.

Political and social Events

Listing a real local political, social, or ideological Event does not mean that SanCrisGo endorses it. Publication means that the Event exists. Descriptions should remain neutral and attribute claims to organizers.

SanCrisGo does not sell political advertising or paid political editorial prominence. Basic visibility should not be reserved only for people whose opinions I share, while normal safety and moderation rules still apply.

Money

I need money, and I want SanCrisGo to become sustainable enough for me to live from it. Hosting, tools, research, development, moderation, photography, and operations all require resources.

But money is not the main reason this project exists. If I already had enough money never to worry about earning again, I would still want to build SanCrisGo. The order I believe in is simple: create real value first, help useful connections happen, and let money emerge around the value created.

Business is allowed

SanCrisGo is not anti-business and does not need to be a nonprofit. It may earn through useful work such as referrals, reservations or ticketing when a proven workflow exists, photography, translation, content and data work, Google Business help, NFC or QR services, technical services, and clearly identified advertising.

The distinction is between doing useful work and selling trust. Commercial relationships may be disclosed where appropriate, but they must not change ordinary organic ranking, factual verification, or the visibility of a better option that does not pay.

You can pay SanCrisGo to do useful work for you. You cannot pay SanCrisGo to pretend that users should prefer you.

Voluntary support for SanCrisGo

Later, people may choose to support SanCrisGo’s founder time, servers, tools, research, development, or operations if the project has helped them. That support is for keeping the project going; it is not charity.

It must never buy ranking, verification, participation, visibility, access, or special treatment. People who never support the project financially should be able to use the core public product normally, without guilt or pressure.

Who is building it

SanCrisGo is currently primarily built by Erchim Petrov. Many people already contribute information, Events, photos, ideas, and participation, and the project can grow through those real contributions.

I do not want to invent a large internal team to make the project appear more established than it is. If more people become part of building it, that should become true through their actual participation.

The principles I want to keep

  • People matter more than advertising budget.
  • Trust is not for sale.
  • Visibility should not depend on money.
  • A good idea can receive help simply because it is a good idea.
  • If a place gave you something important, try to give something back.
  • Let money be a consequence of value created, not the reason to create it.

This page reflects my personal perspective. It does not claim to speak for San Cristóbal, Sakha culture, any community, or any political movement.
