Parque de los Humedales
Juan Sabines
A wetland recreation and learning park on San Cristóbal’s southern edge, set within the protected María Eugenia wetland landscape.
About
Parque de los Humedales is a recreation and environmental-learning park within the María Eugenia mountain wetland area, on the south edge of San Cristóbal. A Ramsar information sheet describes it as a place for recreation and learning about wetlands. In January 2025, the municipal government said the park received about 200 visitors on weekdays and announced plans to recover the space.
For navigation, the park is labeled at Carretera Panamericana 190 km 6.5, Juan Sabines. CONANP lists its park office at that same address. Official sources do not identify an exact visitor gate or public-transport stop. The 2010 management plan says recreation inside the protected area is limited to designated locations; follow posted site instructions. Current visitor hours, admission and available facilities are unconfirmed, so check locally before setting out.
