What is stable and what is not
The November 1–2 dates and cemetery traditions are stable. Public walks, altar exhibitions, performances, traffic plans and other city activities can change each year.
The 2025 program included a special cemetery operation and Festival Almas Vivas activities, but those are context only, not the 2026 program.
Visiting the Municipal Cemetery
The cemetery can become extremely busy during Día de Muertos. Treat it as an active family and religious space:
- avoid close-up photography of people or graves without permission;
- do not block pathways or family gatherings;
- follow municipal access, security and traffic instructions in effect that day.
In 2025 the municipality said the cemetery could receive roughly 50,000 visitors during the festivities. That figure describes the previous edition and is not a forecast for 2026.
On September 21, 2026, the Ayuntamiento reported coordinated security operations from September through November, with special attention to Día de Muertos. This notice does not announce a 2026 municipal program, cemetery hours, or traffic rules. Check current municipal notices for those details closer to your visit.
